Privacy Policy

This policy describes what MindfulPortrait.com does with information about the people who visit it. It is deliberately short, because this site collects very little: there is no contact form, no comment form, and no way to send a message through the site. The only information you can choose to give us is an email address, and only if you subscribe to new posts.

What we collect

  • Your email address, if you subscribe. The subscription box asks for an email address and nothing else. We use it to send you new posts from this site.
  • Anonymous visit statistics. We count page views to see which articles are read, using the measurement services described below.
  • Standard server logs. Like every website, our web host records the IP address and browser of each request. These logs are kept by the host for security and troubleshooting, and we do not use them to build profiles of readers.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, your phone number, your address, or any message text, because there is nowhere on this site to enter them. Comments are turned off on every article, so nothing you write is stored here. We do not publish an email address, we do not run advertising, and we have never sold or rented reader information to anyone.

The newsletter

Subscriptions are handled by Jetpack, a service run by Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com. When you subscribe, your email address is stored by Automattic on our behalf and is visible to us in the site’s subscriber list. We use it only to send you new articles and the occasional note about the site. We do not add you to any other list, and we do not pass your address to anyone else.

Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you immediately. Automattic’s handling of subscriber data is covered by the Automattic Privacy Policy.

Measurement

Two measurement services run on this site:

Both services receive your IP address and information about your browser as a normal part of loading. We use what they report in aggregate, to learn which topics are useful, not to identify individual readers.

Pinterest on the Follow page

Our Follow page displays our Pinterest boards using a panel loaded directly from Pinterest. Because that panel comes from Pinterest’s own servers, Pinterest can see that your browser requested it and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had opened Pinterest in another tab. Their practices are described in the Pinterest Privacy Policy. No other part of this site loads anything from Pinterest.

Embedded content in articles

Some articles include content hosted elsewhere, such as a video. Embedded content behaves as though you had visited that other website directly: the provider can see your request, may set cookies, and may track your interaction with the embed, including recognising you if you are signed in to that provider.

Cookies

This site does not set cookies of its own for ordinary visitors. The third-party services described above may set their own. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to warn you before accepting them; the articles on this site will still read normally if you do.

Who else sees this information

Only the services that make the site work: Automattic for subscriptions and statistics, Google for tag management, Pinterest for the panel on the Follow page, and our web host for server logs. Nothing is shared with anyone else, and nothing is sold.

How long we keep it

We keep a subscriber’s email address until they unsubscribe or ask us to remove it. Visit statistics are kept in aggregate and are not tied to a named person. Server log retention is set by our web host.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. If you would like us to confirm what we hold about you, or to delete it, send us a message through our Pinterest profile and we will act on it. Because we hold nothing but an email address, that is usually a single step.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted connection, and we keep its software up to date. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we hold as little as possible in the first place.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, we will update this page and change the date below.

Contacting us

This site has no contact form and publishes no email address, both on purpose. If you have a question about this policy or about anything on the site, message us through our Pinterest profile, which is linked from the Follow page.
